Rainy days and Mondays...sounds like a song

As expected, today is a rainy day and a Monday, so a lot of shops are closed. This was to be our day to visit Vannes, but we just went into town for lunch and a little shopping and hopefully it will not rain as hard tomorrow. It was really raining hard at 2 pm. today so we just came back to the room to read and relax.
One bad thing we heard today was that there will be a train strike starting tonight at 8 pm. We were supposed to turn in the car and take the train back to Paris on Wednesday, but now we just don't know what to do. We changed the car reservation so we can turn it in at a Paris train station instead of here in Vannes, that way we have a back up plan to Paris. But it's a 5 hour drive instead of a 3 1/2 hour TGV train ride, yuck! So hopefully, the strike will end tomorrow and we can change the car reservation back to the original plan, buy a ticket to Paris, and all will be well again. If that's the biggest problem we have had, we are doing great.
Yes, that ice cream sundae from last night's dinner is huge! I hope all the walking we are doing will make up for having dessert most every night.
Today turned out not to be so bad. The rain stopped and we went to town around 7 pm. We saw the walled city and the gardens then had our cheapest meal so far...pizza and salad.
We finally found a place to rent bikes...maybe tomorrow if it doesn't rain. Otherwise, our last hope is Paris.
