Books, Postcards and a Challenge

Today I received the cutest postcard from Cheryl in Ontario, Canada. The theme this month is Summer Road Trip. I finished my postcards this weekend and will get them in the mail tomorrow. I won't post photos of them to my blog until the recipients have a chance to see them first. I was creatively challenged with this theme and now feel really untalented after seeing Cheryl's card. Isn't it cute?

There is a lot of buzz in the quilting blogland about a new challenge and quilt along started by Amanda and Angela. It is to follow along to make a quilt  inspired by the book
The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt.

I sort of turned up my nose at this very traditional sampler quilt until I saw Ayumi's blog post  and Lynne's blog post about joining this group. There is nothing traditional about their choice of fabrics and now I think I might jump on board this quilt along. I have been a fan of both Lynne and Ayumi for a while and decided I need to order this book and get started. I want to be like them in that they are so darn talented and innovative. Just look at their fabric combinations. With only a required 2 blocks a week to make, I think I can catch up pretty quickly. I'll decide on fabrics this week and order the book...if I dare!

And speaking of Ayumi...she recommended this book by Suzuko Koseki.

My copy arrived today and it has so many lovely projects in it. I am going to be sewing like a wild woman to complete all the projects that I have been dreaming about.
And to add to my "to-do" list, this book also arrived from Amazon today.

It is chock full of wonderful, quick projects to make, too.
I'm going to be a busy sewist this summer. I love the challenge!
