Learning Quilt as You Go

I discovered a few things today that I didn't know yesterday.
I love quilt as you go projects.
I could become addicted to them.
Or maybe it's the high I'm on from smelling the spray basting adhesive.
I sprayed it outside on the barbeque counter, but it still has a pretty strong smell.
I have finished piecing 4 blocks for my Circle Me Back To Amsterdam Quilt,
now referred to as the CMB2A Quilt.
I have quilted 3 of the blocks and sewn the top three blocks to make the top row.
This is going quick now that I sorta know what I am doing.

I also learned that pins don't go through fabric that has been sprayed with adhesive.
I learned that spray adhesive gums up your needle and your machine so I cleaned the needle and the throat plate often with alcohol (the rubbing kind, not the drinking kind).
I learned that the first fabric you pick out and bought 7 yards of for the backing is not always the best choice.
I decided I liked this blue and cream flower better, it looks more like it goes with the Dutch reproduction chintz fabrics I used for the printed circles.
Too bad I am not taking advantage of the 110" wide fabric specifically made for backing.
Oh well, I thought it went well with my fabrics.
I still need to do the hand stitching to finish the seams on the backing.

I wonder what I will learn tomorrow?

Hey that looks great Di! What kind of adhesive are you using? I've used 505 and it doesn't seem to be too sticky for my machine.
I haven't tried to quilt as I go but that sounds like a great and quick option!
