Beach, Barbeque and Birthdays

The Fourth of July weekend was a wonderful celebration of family and friends.
Here is a recap in photos and few words of what we did.
Saturday was a fun day at the beach.
Who had more fun, Uncle Kyle or the kids? The big boys went to the beach early to try and save a fire pit, but they were already taken. So we had to change our menu and bring fried chicken instead of roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. It was a beautiful day at the beach.
Sunday we went to a swim party at our dear friends' home. Where ever the Stanley family goes it's an automatic party, just because there are so many of us. It was our eldest son's birthday on Sunday, so we all sang happy birthday to him. I made a berry pie to have for the next days celebration at our house.

Monday we had a BBQ, Brazilian style at our house... since Kyle was cooking it was called a Churrasco (remember he just returned from living the last year in Florianopolis, Brasil). He planned the menu and he and his brothers grilled all the meat. Evan made a yummy chimichurri sauce for the lamb and Brent grilled some of his home grown zucchinis. Michael was the official taster! All I had to make was potato salad and green salad. My sister and her husband joined us along with her son and his fiance.  Sis made baked beans. What a wonderful day. We finished the meal with pie and an ice cream cake made by my 2 DIL, Molly and Jenny. Not only was it Brent's birthday this weekend, but we were celebrating 2 grandkid's birthdays from last week, mine and one more grandson's for July...making a total of 5 birthdays celebrated, that's a total of 110 candles!

Then it was time to take family photos. It is not often that we can get all 4 sons, 8 grandchildren and all the family together so we must make sure we take a photo of all of us.
Here's what we got for this year.
My sister and BIL, our mom, my nephew and his fiance',

After chasing lizards all afternoon, the little boys finally caught one.

These girls are so darn cute!

The Stanley men!

The Stanley women.

The whole gang!

After family photos and dessert, the boys packed up their families and everyone went to the park to watch the fireworks display. Mr. R and I collapsed in a heap. That was a long, fun day! The kids came back and lit sparklers before they went to bed.
Celebrating anything is better when the entire family is together.
