Over-Committed, but Loving It

In the last month I have signed up for so many swaps and quilt alongs that I have had to keep a notebook to make sure I know what end is up and what is due when. That being said, I love all this sewing, creating and learning that I have been doing. I already posted about the Rockin Robin Quilt Along that I am working on today. Here are a few more projects that I have in the works.

Farmer's Wife Quilt Along
Last week I expressed my frustration to Cindy, who blogs at Spin The Bobbin, about the templates and the paper piecing problems I was having. Cindy and I met through our involvement in the Hands2Help Charity quilt. We have become chatty email buddies. She offered to send me some paper piecing copies that she was using and I made two blocks today and they turned out with perfect points and exactly 6-1/2" square! Thanks Cindy! I also started using my new organic cottons, Anika, by Monaluna. They are wonderful to work with and I love the quirky look of the prints.

Pretty Little Pouch Swap on Flickr
I have been doing some stalking on Flickr of my secret partner's favorites in the Pretty Little Pouch Swap. Since this is my first pouch swap I am a little intimidated. There is some major talent in the group. I hope I make something that she will love. I'm going to decide tomorrow and will share after I get the fabrics picked out.

NewBee on the Block
I made my block for my first quilting bee. It is a Merry-Go Round block and it is really cute. I need to get it ready to ship off to Holly.

A Quilt for Baby Carrot
I liked this block so much that I decided to make a whole quilt using this block for my nephew's baby, due in November. He and his lovely wife already have a 2 year old daughter, who calls the baby in mommy's tummy "Baby Carrot". Here are the fabrics I am going to use. A mixture of Riley Bake and Michael Miller prints. They are having a girl.

I have also received three postcards that I need to post but will do that another day.

Thanks for stopping by...

Thank you! I've been uber frustrated with the templates and stalled out at 3 blocks.

Maybe I should consider paper piecing the Farmer's Wife blocks. I did one the other day, decided to skip the templates, and boy, was I sorry about that! Your blocks are beautiful and your fabric choices superb.

I admire you having so many things on the go - I have quite a few WIPS but not many of them have deadlines - I don;t think I could manage if they did!!

I am in awe that you can keep organised to stay on top of so many swaps and quilt alongs.
I love the FWQ blocks, that fabric is perfect for the blocks.

You are very busy.....I see why you need to write it all down. Love the merry go round and your new fabric for the FWQAL.

How cool! Love your projects. You know, depending on how quickly you get that Riley Blake uqilt done, you could enter it into their contest!

Wow - I can't imagine keeping up with so many commitments! Then again, I also can't imagine being able to make such beautiful quilts!

You are keeping a lot of balls in the air. Impressive! Interesting in your comments on the FWQAL. So far I have only done blocks where I can work out the maths myself. There are a lot of comments on the Flickr group about template problems and I am dreading it. This book does seem tailored to hand sewers, but I persevere because the blocks are so sweet.

Oh I hear you about a lot in the air. But you'll do fine! I keep my lists close to me at all times!

Your block for the New Bee on the Block group is great and I adore the few blocks for the baby quilt! I can't wait to see it finished!

The FWQ is tricky isn't it. I had the book in my hand yesterday and then put it back. Silly huh?!

Merry-Go Round block is so pretty, seen it before and wondered what that was called;)

What a sweet quilt for "baby carrot!"

How did your nephew's daughter come to call the unborn baby "Baby Carrot"? I'll bet that's a cute story! Good work with all your sewing. I love the colours! They're so happy.

I really like your blocks they are all looking good. I too am over-committed right now and by looking at my sewing space you can really tell. Glad your enjoying all that you are committed to :)

Whoop whoop!! You are one busy lady! I would love to join lots of quilt alongs, too, but have had to force myself not to overcommit. My trick? Put the quilt-along blogpost in my Favorites file and come back to it when I have more time!
