A Quilt for a Celebration

I just realized that I let my "Quilt Chronicles" section slip by without an update in over 2 months! For those new to my blog, I started with my first quilt here and have done a little introduction of each quilt as I completed them since I started quilting in 2003. So my next entry in my quilting journey is this quilt I made for our dear friends and neighbors, Peggy and Denis, in 2005. Denis and Peggy had completed their 4 year study program for Denis to become an ordained deacon in the Catholic Church. There was a beautiful mass of celebration and ordination and then a party afterwards. I decided to make them a quilt and wanted it to have a lasting memory of Denis' ordination so I chose this Repeating Crosses pattern. It was a pretty simple strip piecing quilt, but the measurements were wrong in the pattern, so I had to figure out the math. Wonder of wonders, I did it and it turned out just as I wanted it to. Peggy and Denis were happy to receive this gift and it has a place of honor in their living room.

I love this one - and I'm sure P & D do too! By the way, had some slices of the tomato for breakfast...the absolute BEST I've every tasted.

Very pretty. I love the way the crosses move as you take in the quilt.
