September Finishes

September found me working on my swap and bee projects and finishing one quilt top. I so enjoyed the Across the Seas QAL with Jennifer and Sarah. I was right on schedule until it came time to piece the back and I totally messed it up, so I ended up putting it aside to finish in October. But I do love how the Terrain fabrics and the Kona coal go together.
I am usually the type of person who starts a project and finishes it before moving on to the next, but Flickr has changed all that for me. I seem to be jumping on board many swaps and QAL projects. Right now I have 4 quilt tops that need quilting and I've only finished 3 of the 9 Swoon blocks.
Lina's choice for book blocks in my New Bee on the Block bee were really fun. I enjoyed them so much I made her two.
And then there was the Mug Rug and Goodie swap with Cindy from Fluffy Sheep Quilting. Blind swaps are always a challenge for me. Will I read my partner's tastes correctly and make something they love? So far one of my creations has been well received by Rhonda, of Quilter in the Gap. It makes me happy to see that my swap partner likes their gifts.  My other partner has not received her gift as yet. I have not received either of my gifts, but I am able to keep narrowing down what I might receive when I see other people post what they have already received. I am getting more and more anxious and have started stalking the mailman!
Besides sewing, I also love gardening. I made a huge pot of ratatouille pasta sauce and froze it in bags. And to use up the last of the harvest I made a dozen jars of fig jam and also a dozen jars of hot pepper jelly. We also picked our olives and I have started the curing process.
So there you have it. My September finishes and all while running back and forth to visit my mom in the hospital, nursing home and finally assisted living. Needless to say I am tired and so looking forward to next weekend when I will be attending the Sewing Summit in Salt Lake City, Utah. I'll be taking my new black, white and red bag with me, too.

The Sewing Summit
Afterwards, I am meeting Mr. Romance for his birthday celebration and Dental School reunion in Las Vegas. That will be a well deserved R&R for both of us! Can anyone say spa treatments? Ahhhhhh!!!

Thanks for stopping by,
