I am Awesome and So Are You

Julie The Intrepid Thread declared today I AM Awesome and So Are You Day. So I am passing it on to all my blog readers. Take a moment and pat yourself on the back, because you are awesome!
I am also joining in on the photo a day challenge created by Chantelle Fat Mum Slim. This is an easy challenge to take a photo a day. I am using the My365 app on the iphone to document my year in photos and this month Chantelle has a list of prompts for photos. I climbed on board a few days late so I didn't get all the photos required the first few days of the month. It's an easy challenge, why don't you jump on board, too.
At the end of the year you will have a visual diary of your life in 2012. Easy and fun.

I have been struggling to come up with my word for 2012. First I thought about what I wanted to accomplish this year, the goals I had in mind for myself. Most are not things to make and things to do but more of a change to my inner self. I am my worst critic and beat myself up a lot over everything. My mom's fall and subsequent move into a senior living facility was hard for me. I felt like I was going back on the promise I made to my dad, before he died, that I would always take care of my mom in his place. We did that for nearly eleven years. Although it was my mom's decision to stay in assisted living, it didn't help that certain family members were suggesting to my mom that my sister and I PUT her in a HOME!
I am sort of a control freak and also think that if something goes wrong it is my fault. This year I have decided to try and realize that I cannot control everything that happens to me. That I cannot protect my children from life. That I am getting older and I cannot do everything a 30 something can do...so with that being said my word for 2012 is
It's not the downer it sounds like. I think it will give me peace to know I can fail and I need to realize that no one is a harsher critic of me than I am of myself...so who cares what people think.
This is getting a little serious and that's not what this blog is about, so to lighten it up keep those comments coming because I do love them and read them all. I better get going and sew so you can all pat me on the back and tell me I'm Awesome!

I'll leave you with Kyle's video, again, because it fits in as the perfect ending to this post.

Thanks for stopping by,

"di"

Just so you know, I've had your son's song stuck in my head since your Christmas post. I sing it to my daughter! Haha!

We all loved the Awesome song when I played it to the family at Christmas, and I think conceding to some things is actually the right way to go sometimes!

I love the post Di...and yes, you need to lighten up on yourself!♥♥♥
I like the idea of the photo a day but I fear they would all be the same thing because I pretty much do the same thing every day and rarely go out - ha ha! I am going to check out that 365 app though! Be sure to link in your word to my 2012 blog hop! http://www.myheartartbygeri.com/2011/12/whats-your-word-for-2012.html

You are awesome, truly! I think I am more of a word a day, not a picture a day person. I could never pick a single word for a whole year, I hope you have a relaxed and creative year.

Sewing or not sewing - you are awesome. Life seldom goes to plan and learning to roll with it makes things a whole lot easier at times. Here's to a fabulous 2012 for you and everyone else.

Hello Di.
Today I actually thought to myself, after a couple of days of self doubt,
If I say and think that I am a professional designer then who cares that I'm not!!!

I am awesome!

To the point in question.
I use a quilters needle which is quite fine, but not too fine that I cant thread it. Normal needles work fine, just a little harder.
