Out with the old...

in with the new...2011 went out in style, Stanley style. Our son and his family arrived on December 30. We had our Christmas celebration with them on Saturday, December 31. It's always fun to see the grandkids enjoying the surprises we have in store for them. The big gift this year were Disneyland passes for our two eldest sons and their families, but we also wanted to have a few gifts for them each to open.
We repeated the clues for the kids to find their Grinch pocket pillows with the Disneyland passes in the pocket.

We are not big New Year's Eve people. We thought the kids were going to go out and we were going to babysit, but they had gone out the night before, really late, so decided to stay in on New Year's Eve. Not a lot of celebrating going on but lots of sleepy people.
The kids looked so cute all dressed in their Christmas finery to go to church Sunday morning, on New Year's Day.

New Year's day we celebrated by having all the kids and their families, girlfriends, etc. over for a day of  snacks and games.

We even had our own balloon artist, Dolly, entertain us with her balloon making talents. Dolly is the wife of our son's best friend and we sure did enjoy having them here for New Year's day. The kids really enjoyed all of Dolly's balloon creations and so did I!
Then it was game time. We played Headbandz, Taboo and Balderdash. We are a very competitive family and take our game playing very seriously. We had a great time teasing each other, playing hard and sometimes even cheating. He who shall not be named, (but whose name starts with a "T") was the biggest cheater this time.

"Am I a city?" "Am I a specific city?"...Jenny always gives us a good laugh!
The little boys liked their ipod touch games more than the organized games.

Doesn't this look fun? I am sure you will want to join us next year for the Stanley Family New Year's Game Day.

Thanks for stopping by,

"di"

That looks like a fab way to spend New Year, and inviting Dolly was inspirational lol We haven't played big family games at Christmas since the infamous Pictionary incident of '91. Suffice to say, my 2 cousins and I (they being 20 and 18, while I was 13) beat the entire collection of adults hands down, and they didn't take it well...

We love Headbandz! If I came to your house I don't know if we would talk food or sewing more.
