2012 Week 5

This is the first time in a very long time that there is no sewing to report.
But that does not mean that last week was not an amazingly exciting week.
While I was away on a girl's trip to Gig Harbor, Washington,
having a wonderful time working on my digital scrapbooks with 2 of my best friends,
our #2 son was graduating from the fire academy.
We are so very proud of Michael (and Jenny).
They have had a rough 3 years since Michael lost his job
and now that he has finally graduated from the fire academy
he will realize his dream of being a fire fighter.
Paul and Kyle were able to attend the graduation.
I had booked this trip long before I knew of the graduation date.
Here are a few of the photos from the evening.
How exciting for Jenny to pin the badge on her husband.
The kids were sure proud of their dad, as we all are, too.

For the last 6 years, since our friend moved to Gig Harbor, my friend, Monika, and I have been traveling to her home to have a scraptastic week of fun, food and
oh, yeah, scrapbooking.
It was so fun to surprise Mim with a quilt.

This was my first time to do digital scrapbooking on the trip.
It sure was easy to only take my laptop, a small hard drive and a DVD of vacation photos
instead of the 45 pounds of supplies I usually take in a suitcase.
I worked with our 2009 vacation photos.
We visited Vienna, Austria, Plitvice and Rovinj in Croatia,
Ljubljana, Slovenia and ended the trip in Venice.
I actually completed 23 pages.
Here are a few of my favorites.

friends we made through Couchsurfing

I still have a long way to go to finish this album
but I made a big dent in the 900 photos we took on this trip.
If the trip was not fun enough,
I came home to this little surprise waiting from Mr.Romance.

I have lots of sewing planned for this coming week.
Thanks for stopping by,

"di"

Congrats to Michael, looks like a great evening was had by all at the ceremony.

Looks like you had a fab trip away too. It's the supplies and getting photos all printed etc that ended up putting me off scrapbooking a while back, but I've see a handy wee pocket sized printer which you can bluetooth to from your phone that does sticky back photos, so I'm thinking I might get one of them for instant gratification when I'm on the mad road trip this October.

Love the flowers from Mr Romance too, I never get flowers... (of course I do have hay fever, but ya know if they avoided lillies...)

Congrats to Michael. I know you and Mr. Romance (and his family) are so proud of him. Looks like you had a great time on your girls weekend. Great scrapbook pages.

We're so sorry we couldn't get tickets for Michael's graduation. He looks radiant! We're so proud of him. Love the scrapbooking you did too - the pages are great. I've sort of given up on scrapping (too overwhelming and don't know where to begin since I've never started one for myself) I love your hair in the bottom picture next to the flowers! Spikey and sassy!

Wow Diane, that's completely amazing! I have given up on my scrapbooks and just do Mac Books now. But what you are doing is so much better!
