I made good use of my 20% off coupon for Joann's this week. We had quite a rainy day yesterday so I got lucky and there were not a lot of people at the store. Usually it would have taken 45 minutes to wait in line and have 12 fabrics cut, but I got lucky on Saturday. They had a nice selection of DS fabrics, so I bought a dozen different prints. I like how most of the Denyse Schmidt prints from her different lines all kind of go together.
My order of Flea Market Fancy will blend with a lot of these prints, too.
I am so excited that my daughter in law asked me to make their family a picnic quilt. I think I might use a combination of some of the DS prints with other prints from my stash. I really like this pinwheel quilt that Erin made and think I might do the same thing for the picnic quilt for my son and his family.
It's such a simple design and really shows off the fabrics nicely.
I worked on my Stitch Tease strip a little more and used another one of Amy's patterns. Aren't these gardening gloves just so darn cute? The background fabric is the fabric I made on Spoonflower especially for this quilt bee.
Mr. Romance was gone one night this week (boy's night out) and today he had a continuing education class, so I had a lot of extra time to do a lot of sewing. I made 6 more granny squares this weekend, adding to the 6 I made earlier in the week, bringing the grand total to 30 finished blocks, so far. I virtually sashed these in red this time, but I still favor the grey as my favorite.
I managed to get the Made in Cherry quilt basted and started quilting it today. Hopefully I can get the majority of the quilting finished on it tomorrow.
The fun this week was seeing this guy so excited about being 6 years old! They just grow up too fast, don't they? Happy Birthday, Corbin!
