Around the Clock Shower

I am invited to a bridal shower this weekend. It's an "Around the Clock" shower. I didn't know what that was until I received the invitation. Each guest is assigned a time of day and then you bring a gift for the couple that would be appropriate to use at that time of day. I was assigned 2 pm. 

 

I decided it would be nice to take a nap at 2 pm., so the couple would need a quilt. I won a jelly roll of Cosmo Cricket's Circa 1934 a while ago so I combined it with some Kona Khaki and made a super fast and easy quilt.

 

I quilted it with diagonal lines that intersect at the corners and wavy lines in the border.

 

The backing is my new favorite thing in quilting...the extra wide dotties by Moda, in red. I used 8 of the jelly roll strips to make the binding. The quilt is 74"x74" {kind of, almost square, ha!}

When ordering the border fabric I miscalculated and did not order quite enough, so I had to make half square triangles for each corner. {I like my borders and sashing to be cut in one piece whenever possible} Since the backing was such a solid red I did not want to break it up by putting a label on it, so I just wrote my sentiment on the front on one of the HST.

This quilt is for someone very special to our family. Our neighbor's son, Bernie, was our boys' babysitter when we first moved into the house 27 years ago. Bernie has been a good friend to our boys and is the happiest guy you will ever meet. At 42, we are so happy that he has finally found the perfect person to share his life.
