Summer Sewing Contest

Welcome to the last day of the Summer Sewing Contest Blog Hop. If you are here from Jennifer's blog, welcome. I hope you will take a look at what I have been up to the last few months. There has been a lot going on here and I have big plans for my summer sewing. The first thing I had to do was make a new bag and a passport wallet for our big anniversary trip. In a few weeks we will be heading for a long awaited trip that starts in Berlin, Germany and will take us through Poland, Slovakia and we'll end in Vienna. Mr. Romance and I are celebrating 40 years of marriage and we can't wait to get away and explore places we have not yet visited. We are even going to meet up with a few blog friends and I will meet a cousin in Slovakia that I didn't even know I had until a few months ago!
I knew I wanted to try making Anna Noodlehead's 241 Tote. I have had the pattern for a while now and finally made one for me. I also wanted a passport wallet because I always just stick my passport in my bag and thought since I was making a bag I might as well make a matching wallet.

I used my precious collection of Denyse Schmidt Flea Market Fancy and combined it with Essex Linen in the putty color. The linen gave me a few fits after fusing it to the interfacing, but in the end I love this bag. I added an outside padded and zippered pocket for my iPhone.

I lined the bag with Lizzy House Pearl Bracelets fabric in the Salmon/Coral color and it goes perfectly with the FMF. The bag has a magnetic clasp and a pocket inside, too.

I found the passport wallet pattern on Pinterest.  Here's the link to the instructions. It was exactly what I was looking for.

It is secured with a snap closure. The wallet has a place for my passport, train tickets or itinerary papers, coins, cash, credit cards, a pen and it even has a vinyl window pocket for a driver's license. I put my Moo cards in there just in case I need to share my blog with someone in Europe.

The euros are leftover from our 2010 trip to Europe.

So what are your sewing plans for the summer? I have a list a mile long, but have to finish a few things before we leave and then I will tackle my long list when we return in July.

Here are the rules and the categories with all the dates for your submissions. Good luck and have fun.

Good thinking there with the tote and passport cover. I have to admit to being too lazy to have covers for mine (as I have 2, 1 Irish, 1 UK), plus I like nosing around in the airport queue to see where everyone else has come from ;o)

The passport wallet is fantastic! And what a great idea to put an outside pocket on the 241 bag. I never have a good spot for my phone so I often end up tucking it into my bra.......

Diane, you've inspired me to to get busy on my projects! They all look fabulous!!
Question: Where do you get that "tape" that has your "do or "di"" on it? I've seen a lot of people put these little labels on their projects, so they, just like you, must be ordering them from somewhere? Can you share with me where I can get something like that made for myself?
Thank you,

Gorgeous, but that doesn't surprise me at all!

Diane! Those are both amazing! What a brilliant use for your FMF. I still don't know what I am going to do with mine. I also have that bag pattern. I really should play with it. You've inspired me today :-)
