Summer Sewing

Summer will be here before we know it. I love trips to the beach, picnics in the park and days spent around the pool. These all call for a new bag to take to the beach, a cute picnic quilt or tablecloth, even a new dress to slip over your bathing suit. Well anyway that's what I need to sew for this summer.
Have you thought about what you want to sew this summer?
My friend, Jennifer of Ellison Lane Quilts is having a Summer Sewing Contest and it sounds so fun. It all starts with a blog hop, and yikes, I'm one of the stops on it!  In addition to the things I listed above,  I especially want to sew some small gifts to take with us on our trip to Europe. We will be staying with friends in Vienna and it is always nice to bring a little something handmade to show our appreciation for their hospitality.
I have also thought about getting back into garment sewing, so I need to put my thinking cap on and get busy. I have this fantasy of making an easy fitting summer dress with some Liberty fabrics.

Oh that sound like so much fun, and I guess the dress you have in mind with a Liberty print could be perfect as a slip over. We'll get lots of inspiration here, yeah!

I have 2.5 yards of Liberty fabric waiting for me at my mum`s funnily enough - it will probably be a shirt or two but I would love to make a dress. This sounds fun!

Summer is long gone here, so I'll be watching from afar(literally!! ) as you create! The New Look dress looks great!

That pattern in the Liberty prints would be perfect. I also have that pattern and have thought about light linen. So many possibilities. :-)). Sew along sounds fun. May have to join.
