This Week in 2012, Week 23

Not a lot to show for this week. I have been super busy getting ready for vacation. It's really a chore to prepare to be gone for almost three weeks. We are lucky that we will have someone to stay in our home and care for the garden and the dogs, but making the list of things to do is never ending.
I did finally get my May block made for my NewBee on the block bee. Mary wanted wonky houses and I don't do wonky very well. I was influenced  by a photo on Flickr  that I saw when I searched "wonky houses". Thank goodness for "borrowing" other's ideas.

The garden is coming along quite well. So far we have picked 2 cucumbers and 1 squash. The nights have still been quite cool, but I imagine in the next few weeks we will really start harvesting a lot of vegetables. I can't wait for tomatoes, green beans and zucchini. The potatoes are still a mystery...will we or won't we have potatoes when we dump out the bins next month? Only time will tell.
Do you play draw something? I thought this was a pretty good draw, considering I really am a terrible artist.

I entered Jennifer's Summer Sewing Contest in three categories.

In the quilt category I entered the Patchwork Chevron Picnic quilt I made for my son and his family.

In the bags and accessories category I entered the 241 Tote and Passport Wallet

and in the Home Decor category I entered the fabric nesting bowls.

You can still link up your entries on Jennifer's blog, Ellison Lane Quilts until June 17. Voting will begin June 18-23. When the voting begins, I hope you'll vote for me.

We ended the weekend with a get together for my sister and brother-in-law's daughter and her family. I forgot to take photos but kyle got this one of the three of us.

Thanks for stopping by,

Ok. So I have to ask. I've been thinking about buying that basket pattern, but I want to use them to store Clara's toys in. I found a pattern at Jo-Anns that is comparable, but completely rectangular and angled. Would you recommend the Jo-Anns or the baskets you made?

I hear what you mean about the "to-do" list before going away! I leave on Friday and have two weeks of vacation in 2 different states plus 2 conferences to present at in 2 OTHER states during my time away. What do I pack? Everything? And there are the dogs, the cats and the chickens to make arrangements for. I'm going to NEED that vacation once I finish making all these plans! Best of luck in the contest - all your creations are wonderful!
