Creating an Heirloom Quilt

Last summer I fell in love with the Swoon pattern and bought the entire line of Joel Dewberry's Heirloom in the Citrine colorway. I made my first square and then another two and promptly filed the rest of the fabric in a WiP pile and went on to work on lots of other projects.

But then in January of this year Katy I'm a Ginger Monkey started a Swoon-Along on Flickr and I knew I had to join. This was just the kick I needed to finish this quilt.
I got all the blocks made and sewn together and sent it off to my long arm quilter to be quilted.
I brought it home and folded it into a corner of my work room and forgot about it until a few weeks ago when I remembered how much I love this quilt and want it finished for ME! I ordered the fabric for the binding and finished it this last weekend.
So here are a few photos of the finished Swoon.

It's so big, it was hard to photograph by myself.

I took it over to my neighbor's backyard to get a nice shot in the shade.

Under our fig tree.

This is how it looks now on our bed with one of the pillows I made from the HST remnants. I need to make a few more pillows with the rest of the HSTs.

The classic binding shot.

Cujo kinda wanted to be in a photo too. She heard there is a photo contest going on at Lily Pad Quilting

quilt stats:
Pattern Swoon by Camille Roskelley
Fabric Heirloom by Joel Dewberry in Citrine (with a few others added in)
Background Kona Snow
quilted by Susie Peterson using Warm and Natural batting
finished measurements 80"x80"

Goodness, that is one beautiful quilt. I love the swoon blocks I see everywhere, but I've been a little scared to tackle one myself. I'm so impressed that you made an entire quilt with them!

It's beautiful DI. I've seen the blocks on quite a few blogs, but I had no idea they were so big!
Good luck Cujo (what about the turtle?)

AHmazing!!! That's right...AHmazing!!! :) Stunning version.

If you're looking for a fun block to do with the HSTs from that quilt check out this post from my blog. It was the block we did for our charity group in July, and then I link to the original site from my post. :)

This is stunning, Di! I'm making a quilt using heirloom right now, and I keep thinking how perfect the fabrics would be for a swoon - and they are. Seriously gorgeous.

I so want to Swoon with everyone else but I can't decide on fabric. I have nine fat quarters of royal blue and white prints (all the same colors but different prints) that I think would be pretty (coupled with nine other prints) but it's the nine other prints that I need to decide on! Yours is beautiful!

I love it - I hadn't seen a Swoon with setting blocks in the sashing. It breaks up the area between the blocks nicely. And I love the throw pillow too.
