This Week in 2012, Week 40

This week started out with a birthday celebration for my mom. It was so wonderful to have my brother, sister and 3 of our 4 sons and their families here to help celebrate.

We made homemade ice cream the old fashioned {aka EXPENSIVE} way.

I had to share this photo that our son Kyle posted to his Instagram this week. He left for Thailand with his girlfriend the day after our birthday celebration. This is such a cool photo and what an adventure for Kyle and Briana. It makes me want to plan a trip to Thailand before I get too old to ride an elephant.

Monday arrived and it was time to say goodbye to my brother, but not before we went to my favorite sushi restaurant in Newport Coast and then a quick shopping trip so he could buy some t-shirts from a local surf shop for his kids.
I had such a great time with my brother and look forward to seeing him again soon. None of this 7 years between visits, stuff!

I am trying to get ready to leave for Sewing Summit on Wednesday, so I have been cutting fabric for classes, making little swap gifts and trying to put a wardrobe together for cooler weather. It's been so long since I have worn something besides shorts or sundresses, I have to dig through my closet to find the appropriate clothes and boots to wear.

This is the zipper pouch I made for one of the swaps

I finished my tote for the Mouthy Stitches swap and I must say I think it is pretty darned awesome. I will need to make a separate post about this tote so I can tell you about the pattern and fabrics used.

We have not gone to a lot of our grandkids games this season but we did make it to Corbin's game and were able to see him make a goal during his soccer game.

As if one sewing/quilting retreat isn't enough to be excited about, I registered for Fat Quarterly Retreat in London today.

Yes, you read that correctly, I am going to London next July. Mr. Romance and I had decided a few weeks ago to incorporate the London retreat into our vacation to Ireland next summer. I can't wait to meet all my blogging buddies from the other side of the Atlantic.

Thanks for stopping by,

"di"

As if SS isn't enough to be jealous of, now you're going to the Retreat too! Despite my jealousy I love the MS tote and the cute 'mine' pouch. Great family time too!

What a great week! I can't wait until Clara can play soccer. I'm going to be a terrible soccer mom. Not sure if I've told you, but I played in adult league soccer up until I got pregnant and now that I'm back in shape, I've been thinking of picking it up again. There's nothing worse than a competitive soccer mom yelling at the ref at her 4 year old daughter's Saturday game!!

Hi Di! If someone asks for your name next summer just tell them "I was the one with the elephant-photo". We will all know at once! Looking forward to meeting you in London :o)

Your London trip sounds fun as well as Ireland.
Your mouthy swap bag is great as well as your zippered pouch.
Glad you spent some fun times with your brother this past week. All the pictures looked like lots of fun family time.
Hope your mom had a happy birthday!
See you in 2 days!
