My longtime friend died this morning from complications due to Alzheimer's disease.
You might remember these posts I wrote about the quilt I made her last year.
I also wrote about Darlene in this post. She was my dearest friend and confidant while Paul was in school when we lived in Chicago from 1972-1976. She and her husband adopted us as their family, since ours was 2000 miles away. We chose Darlene and Silvio to be Godparents to our oldest son. She was a dear, sweet friend and I have missed her these last few years as her illness progressed.
I am so grateful to have the memories I do of our time together.
It is a very sad day for Paul and I .

I am so sorry to hear and I am thinking of you. I re-read your posts, it is so wonderful that you had such a friend, the memories will be there always.

How very sad. In the photos she looks so vibrant and I suspect Alzheimer's took her far too young. I am sorry you gave lost such a dear friend, Di.
