Work in Progress Wednesday

I don't know when the last time I linked to Lee's WiP Wednesday, but I do know it has been a long time. I have so many quilts and projects in different stages but these are the two I am working to finish this week.
The x and plus along, another quilt along taking Instagram by storm.
I have to admit, I already had about 65 blocks collected from various swaps and bees so I only needed to make another 15 or so to give me 80 blocks. I originally thought I wanted 100 blocks, but truth be told, I am tired of cutting the scrappy strips and squares needed for this block. At 80 blocks, it measures 60"x75".

I'm going to add some borders. Thanks to my Instagram friends, the border opinions are split 50/50 for the plain black or the text fabric, but in the end I think I am going plain. I like the idea of keeping the focus on the x and plus blocks and framing the quilt with the plain black.
I had a little run in with a rotary cutter. I literally ran my finger into the blade, not vice-versa, which would have been much worse. Thanks to my sister for reminding me to "glue" the cut, I was able to remove the bandage and it makes it much easier to sew.

I attached the last bit of binding to the scrappytripalong quilt last night and as soon as I get the label sewn on I will get some photos and reveal it to you.

Ouch.

Cool photo of your border options. I think either way would be wonderful.

As you know I am working on an x plus quilt but I do really prefer the original badskirt sized blocks - your quilt is perfect (mais bien sur) and I am happy I was in the 50% you went with (although I'm guessing with timing that you had already decided by the time I put my tuppence worth in). Good for Geri playing vicarious nurse and glad you are feeling a bit better :-)

Either border for the x and + quilt will be a winner! Those rotary cutters can be dangerous- take care!

Sorry about your finger Di! You've got a lot done in the new year already. Looking forward to seeing the pictures of the 2 scrap quilts completed. Be safe with the rotary.

Your x & +s look great! I have Savlon plasters with built in quick healing magic that I stuck on my knife cut the other night. Wish I had something for the 2 burns though o.O

Sorry about your finger, I managed to do the exact same thing on a quilting course! I was busy chatting at the time! As my late Grandmother would say "you'll only do it the once"

The x and plus looks great! I looked to see if we were in the same swap, but I can't tell, it's so colourful! I think the black border is definitely the right choice. Sorry about your finger...

I can't imagine making 100 of those + and x blocks! I am almost up to my goal (63 blocks for a 7 block by 9 blocks quilt) and I am pretty sick of making them. But they sure are pretty!

Love that little bit of red sashing before the black border. It is going to be beautiful. And your poor, poor finger! Hope it is on the mend.

I love the x and plus quilt. You did such a great job pulling together little bits of your pretties (on this AND the Scrappy Trip quilt!) So sorry about your finger. I just had the same thing happen to a friend the other day! So scary!
