4x5Modern Quilt Bee

A few weeks ago I joined another quarter of the 4 x 5 Modern Quilt Bee. I always get a little panicky over what block to make but when I saw Liz Harvatine's January block for the LA Modern Quilt Guild I knew I had to use this as my block for my group, Hive 3.
I really enjoy sewing curves and this was a good challenge for me to try and conquer this block. So with each person's choice of colors I have created six individual blocks that look great on their own and even look good all together as a scrappy quilt.
If you have not seen this block on Instagram you'll need to check out @ladyharvatine and the #januaryquilt.

I have been seeing this block and it is totally on my list of things to do, such a lovely choice for your bee.

I have been eyeing up this block, I am not the most experienced curve sewer, so it would be a real challenge, but I think there maybe a pillow cover waiting to be made with this block.

It is interesting how two different patterns emerge if you look at it enough.

Those blocks are beautiful. I would love to try it but it looks so hard! Is it paper pieced?

Beautiful block. I am too afraid to try curves for now.

A gal in our bee is doing this as well, and I've really loved it. I like how they all fit together so well when there is a multiple of them. Nice work!
