Socks for Shirley

My friend, Shirley, was my secret swap partner at Glamp Stitchalot last month. She went over and beyond the normal swap requirements and made me a Caravan Tote! It is everything you could want in the perfect tote bag and is beyond gorgeous!

Made for me by my friend Shirley

While we were at the retreat, Shirley casually said she did not have any handknit socks. How can that be? She lives in Michigan. So I told her I would make her some socks. In fact, I told her that I already had a pair that she could have.

Socks for Shirley

I made these socks a few months ago and tried to make a different heel. The first sock ended up too big for me, so I ripped it out and made the heel again and it still ended up too big. So I made the second sock to match and put them aside for just the right person. That person happens to be Shirley.
I shipped them off last week and they arrived the same day that her father passed away. Shirley receivecd a hug from me in the form of warm socks to comfort her in her time of grief. I am so glad these socks will have a lovely person to keep warm and cozy.
