Hurricane Sandy, how you can help

I met Jennifer this year at Sewing Summit. She is originally from New Jersey but now lives in Hawaii. So many of her friends and family have been affected by the horrible floods and devastation of the hurricane {as have some of my cousins and friends}and she was feeling helpless so she decided to start making quilts for people but needs your help.

You can read Jennifer's post on her blog here. And sign up in the Flickr group here. Surely you can make a few blocks to help out. It's a super simple block to make. Here's the tutorial.

Hurricane Sandy blocks for Jennifer

I put together these two blocks in a few minutes before breakfast.

Some people might think there are better ways to help but this is what quilters do; and who wouldn't want a cuddly quilt to make them feel loved.
I will be putting together one of the scrappy quilts to help out.

Thank you!

Thank you Di. I am talking with Jennifer too about helping. I love how quilters come together. I am a proudJersey Girl, living between Seaside and LBI. I thank everyone who helps in this effort. I have a few pictures of my town on my blog. We were hit hard, but nothing like the area just north and south of me.

Thanks! I just followed and joined, and hope to make a block or 2. My family was hit hard by Katrina, and so received so much help from others. I hope to pay it forward many times over...

Oh crikey I clicked through to the flickr group from Jennifer's yesterday then got distracted by Mouthy Stitches - thanks for the reminder x

Would love to make some blocks Diane. Can I contribute some to your scrappy quilt?

Lovely blocks Di - I really hope your friends and family get through this quickly. When I saw Jennifer said that 'lovely Diane had offered to make a quilt' I guessed it must be you - a wonderful gesture.

What a great idea! My guild has started a quilt to raffle off to get money to the red cross.

I'll try to squeeze in some for this project as well! :)

Just getting to catching up on everything, but I have this on my list :o)

Love all the things you've been making, and glad you had so much fun on the birthday portion of your trip :o)
